Welcome to the library.jpgA love of reading, both for pleasure and information, is of huge importance to every child. Research shows that pupils who read regularly achieve higher results. As writer Roald Dahl says, “If you are going to get anywhere in life you have to read a lot of books”.

The library aims to encourage a love of reading through the provision of a welcoming and well stocked library. All are welcome to use the library for quiet reading and doing homework.

We have a wide range of fiction books, including quick reads, graphic novels and a more challenging young adult section.  We also have magazines and newspapers, such as Match and First News.  A wide selection of non-fiction books is available for research and general interest. We have chairs and bean bags for reading in comfort as well as areas for study and doing homework.  We even have our own fan-tailed goldfish called Klaus.

Computers are available for research and homework.

The library is open every break and lunchtime to all pupils. Pupils can borrow up to three books at a time for up to two weeks.

Throughout the year a range of activities and competitions take place, including Read for My School, BookBuzz and World Book Day.  Whenever possible we invite authors into school to talk about their work. Book Fairs come to school at least once a year so that pupils can browse and buy books.
